Marryatville is a suburb to the east of Adelaide's central business district. Along with neighbouring Heathpool, it is part of the City of Norwood Payneham St Peters whereas all the suburbs around it, with the exception of Kensington are in Burnside City Council.

The Marryatville Shopping Centre is located at 242–248 Kensington Road. It includes a Woolworths supermarket, newsagent, butchery, liquor store, Bakers Delight bakery, yogurt shop, pharmacy, cafe and a Noodle Box Asian takeaway store.Marryatville High School, notable for its music program, is located within the suburb. The school was formerly Norwood Boys Technical School until it was renamed and opened to both sexes in 1976.First Creek runs through the suburb, originating from the hills. Floods in November 2005 overflowed First Creek’s banks heavily. Many houses and Marryatville High School became flooded with debris and soil from upstream. There were no fatalities from the flood but it did cause considerable damage to some houses and Marryatville High School's grounds. Loreto Marryatville also suffered some damage with the library being flooded.
